What is an Arm Lift?

Brachioplasty surgery removes excess skin from the arms between the elbow and armpit while camouflaging the scar inside the arm.

This procedure results in a scar that runs from the elbow to the armpit and sometimes along the side of the chest. The forearms are not treated. This procedure is done as day surgery, meaning patients may go home once they have recovered from the anesthetic. There are large, compressive dressings present on each upper arm. No drains are required with this surgery.

Patients typically take 1 to 2 weeks off work, depending on their job. There is to be no heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for 4 weeks after surgery to allow the incisions to heal.
