Surgery can be done under local anesthetic (freezing only) or general anesthetic (the patient is put to sleep and looked after by an anesthetist). Short incisions are made within the hairline, which allows repositioning of the skin and muscles of the brows and forehead. As the scars heal, they become camouflaged within the hair and are easily hidden. Brow lift surgery is often performed at the same time as cosmetic eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) which can result in a very dramatic change. Surgery takes place at a private surgery center or hospital and generally lasts 1-2 hours.

Patients can go home directly after their procedure. The recovery period generally lasts four weeks, although most patients are comfortable going to work and being seen in public around week two.

All prescription medications and recovery instructions are provided ahead of time so patients can relax at home and focus on their recovery when the arrive at home.

Follow-up care starts at one week post-procedure where patients are seen at the clinic and have their incisions checked.
